Community Information

When you find a dog on the street, don't automatically assume they've been dumped. Some times they are strays that got out of their yards or somehow found themselves lost away from home. Always check for a microchip. Next, check Lost Dogs of Texas/Lost Dogs of San Antonio and any other local lost pet websites. Share with neighbors and post flyers. Get the word out. If you find a possible owner, ask for proof of ownership (rabies certificate, current photos or photos with the person in question, microchip information, etc.). Dogs can wander far from home and can be missing for a very long time. So always check before doing anything else!

All Pause for Paws dogs are initially scanned, quaratined, and investigated for possible owners. There is always at least a two week quaratine period where we give them necessary vet care, spay/neuter, and check postings online before any dog goes up for adoption.
